The Dialog 3 pen is the third in a series of pens developed in the last ten years as a 'dialogue' between Lamy and a designer. Franco Clivio-- a Swiss-based designer/engineer/lecturer, who has designed products for Siemens and Erco, among others-designed the Dialog 3. Dialog 1 is a ballpen-with a unique triangular body-- designed by German architect/designer Richard Sapper; Dialog 2 is a sleek rollerball designed by Danish designer/architect Knud Holscher.
To write with the Dialog 3 fountain pen, just twist, and the nib will slide elegantly out of the barrel while the clip retracts into the body. Twist it closed and a protective ball valve automatically moves in front of the opening and protects the retractable nib from damage and dirt. At the same time, the pen can now be clipped to a pocket or bag.
